Interventions: Narrative

After Scout’s inaugural design conference, Interventions, in 2018, I jumped at the chance to do it all again the next year. I couldn’t think of a better way to end my 5 year run at Northeastern University than by bringing together the Boston design community with speakers from across the country, all on campus and showcasing the student-led powerhouse that is Scout.

What resulted was an inspiring, energizing, and unforgettable day. I, alongside our Executive and Operations Directors, raised $40k to bring 13 speakers together to explore how we create, own, and maintain narratives in our work that have inevitable effects on society. My small team of fellow students designed and developed a promotional website, designed marketing materials, and wrote and produced a podcast. In the weeks leading up to the event, we sold 300 tickets for a full house.

I look back on Interventions: Narrative with nothing but absolute fondness for all of the tireless work that went into pulling off such an event. And with that said, I learned that event planning isn’t something I have any desire to do again (at least, for a long time). But Interventions: Narrative is some of my proudest work– my portfolio wouldn’t feel complete without it.
